It looks like a strong usable building to me!
Why pull it down?
Or do you want pretty pictures and flowers on it to make it look nice???
What the???
The building that replaces it might cost too much money and not look much better???

I completely agree that pulling down 10 Murray is a complete waste of money! The whole State economy is in crisis! Let’s get real!

The greatest difference between the 2 buildings is MONA doesn’t break the skyline whereas 10 Murray street is a poor excuse for a skyscraper.

Is it correct that the Government intends to pay rent on the proposed structure whereas they (we) own #10 Murray Street and indeed could charge rent for floorspace.

I suggest that professional business’s would be keen to rent in this building alongside State public servants.

Wouldn’t be nice for the State Government to make profitable business decision…

You are right. Hobart is the only largely intact Georgian /Victorian port in the Southern Hemisphere. Unfortunately the Hobart City Council and Tasmanian government do not grasp the point. Instead we are getting ugly buildings thanks to Sultan developments and Council built car parts. Buildings like the Services Tasmania building and the Hadley’s extension are perfect examples of what is wrong. What of the proposed office block to be built cantilvered over Macquarie House. Yes Macquarie house which is a unique Georgian three story brick building built early in the colony is about to be desecrated not restored or aquired by the National Trust.
Little money is spent on restoring buildings and the City Centre street scape.
We should be building in scale and sympathy with our Victorian and Georgian buildings not building rubbish.
The planning and approval process is flawed and I, as most Hobartians feel powerless!
Culturally ignorant architects and politicians are destroying the city!
